Flying Under the FAA's Special Rule for Model Aircraft

Published on 5/21/2018
On February 1, 2018 the FAA modified its web site regarding the registration and flying of model aircraft.  CCRC Members are encouraged to visit the site to review the rules and registration process.  FAA registration is not currently required for CCRC members to fly at our facility.  AMA membership is a requirement.

Editor's Note:  Information from the AMA indicates that while negotiations with the FAA are ongoing that the reinstatement of required registration for model aviators may soon be forthcoming.  The chief point in the negotiations is whether or not AMA Members will be allowed to register with the FAA using their AMA Member ID.
